Documentary Vacation Photography

So that your adventure can last a lifetime.

You’ve dreamed and you’ve planned. You’ve googled “Top 10 places to visit” and “Best food in Dublin” but when it’s all over, all you have are few phone pics, lots of selfies, and then they disappear into the depths of your phone.

Whether it’s a trip of a lifetime or a weekend away, these are the stories you’ll tell for the rest of your life - let’s take the pictures that go with them!

I’m based in Co Clare, the most beautiful county in Ireland (yeah, I’m biased) but I love exploring this beautiful country, from Dublin to Sligo and Belfast to Cork. Whether it’s the iconic Cliffs of Moher or the tucked-away locals-only woodland walk, let’s explore them together!

Why hire a photographer to document your travels?

… SO THAT NO ONE STEALS YOUR CAMERA

It was our first vacation as newlyweds, and I wanted to remember every second. So I asked a passerby to take a picture of my new husband and myself. Before he handed the camera over, my husband glanced down at the man’s shoes. Later, I asked why he did that and he answered,

“I wanted to make sure that if he took off with our camera, I could chase him down.”

… SO THAT YOU CAN TELL ALL THE STORIES

One of my parents’ most treasured items is an old scrapbook stored on the bottom shelf of the bookcase. In it are the pictures we took on our very last family vacation. As I flip through the pages, I can’t help but laugh. There’s one of my 17 year old brother pounding on the car window… we had locked him in… for 2 hours. And one of the 300 year old bedroom where I was convinced there were ghosts. And then, halfway through, the pages stop and the rest of the photos are kind of jammed in there, waiting to be “finished”.

They’ve been waiting 15 years.

We still look at them, but I’d love to finally finish it, put it out on the coffee table, and share it with my own kids.

… SO THAT EVERYONE IS IN THE PHOTOS.

We are a photo family - we take them, print them, look at them daily. We have lots of “remembers”. The last “remember” my 4 year old had was looking at an ice-cream shop picture . “Mommy, I had bubblegum and so did S’mantha and so did Tara but Daddy had chocolate." “And what did I have?” I asked. He looked at the photo, “You weren’t there.”

But I was. I was taking the photo. I had Mint chocolate chip with oreos on top. And right then and there I decided that I would be in WAY more photos - because I was there too.
